Website Terms
How this website may be used, and what the website does not do.
Document code: CME-WEB-2026-01
These Website Terms explain how you may use this website and how website information should be understood. They are separate from CME's service terms, which apply to engineering work only when a service contract is formed.
1. Website operator
This website is operated by Coastal Marine Engineering Ltd ("CME", "we", "our", "us"). Company details appear at the end of this page.
2. General information only
Website information describes CME's general marine, mechanical, electrical and generator capabilities. It is not vessel-specific engineering, electrical, mechanical, safety, operational, financial or legal advice.
You should not use general website information as a diagnosis of your vessel, generator, engine, electrical system or site, or as authority to operate equipment that may be unsafe.
3. Enquiries are not contracts
Submitting an enquiry, quote request, callback request or careers application does not by itself create a contract for engineering services. A service contract is formed only when CME accepts an instruction, confirms a booking or chargeable attendance, or you accept a CME quote, estimate, diagnostic authorisation or other written scope.
4. Permitted use
- You may use the website for normal browsing, enquiries, applications and contact with CME.
- You must not misuse the site, interfere with security, submit malicious content, scrape forms at scale, attempt unauthorised access, or use the site to send unlawful or misleading material.
- You must not upload material that is unlawful, malicious, confidential to someone else without authority, or unrelated to your enquiry or application.
5. Availability and accuracy
We take reasonable care with website information, but service availability, staffing, parts, weather, site access and operational conditions can change. Website text does not guarantee acceptance of a job, attendance at a particular time, a response time, a fixed price, or availability of parts or services unless confirmed in a specific customer document.
6. Intellectual property
Website text, layout, imagery, logos, videos, documents, code and other materials are owned by CME or licensed to CME unless stated otherwise. You may view and use them for ordinary website use. You must not copy, reproduce, adapt or use them commercially without written permission.
7. Third-party links and services
The website may link to third-party sites or load ordinary assets from third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party content, availability or privacy practices. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy explain relevant data and cookie handling.
8. Liability
Nothing in these Website Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, statutory consumer rights where exclusion is prohibited, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
9. Governing law
These Website Terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Subject to any mandatory consumer protections, website-use disputes are subject to the courts of Scotland.
