Accessibility Statement
How we try to make this site usable, and what we know is not right yet.
Document code: CME-ACCESSIBILITY-2026-01
Coastal Marine Engineering wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, or browser settings such as increased text size or reduced motion.
1. What this statement covers
This is a voluntary statement about the accessibility of our public website. Coastal Marine Engineering Ltd is a private company and is not a public sector body, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us. We publish this statement because we think it is useful to you, not because we are required to.
2. The standard we work to
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, level AA, as our technical reference. We have reviewed the site against that standard. We do not claim to be certified, audited by a third party, or fully conformant.
3. What we tested, and how
Our most recent review covered representative public pages, including the home page, service pages, careers page, forms, policy pages and error pages.
The review combined automated testing with manual checks. Automated testing alone cannot confirm that a website is accessible, so we also checked by hand:
- Operating the whole site using only a keyboard, including the enquiry and application forms.
- That the item you are focused on is always clearly visible.
- Heading structure, landmarks and the names given to links and buttons.
- Form labels, required fields, and how errors are reported.
- Behaviour when zoomed or viewed on small screens, checking that content reflows without side-to-side scrolling.
- Touch target sizes on phones and tablets.
- That animation is reduced or removed when your device is set to reduce motion.
- Text and background colour contrast.
4. Known limitations
We would rather tell you what is not right than imply everything is. As at the date below, we are aware of the following:
- Security check on forms. Our enquiry and application forms use a third-party security check. It is usually invisible and requires no interaction, but it is not under our direct control. If it prevents you from submitting a form, please contact us and we will take your details another way.
- Video backgrounds. Some sections use short, silent, looping video as decoration. It carries no information, and it is not shown if your device is set to reduce motion. There are no captions because there is no audio or spoken content.
5. Getting this information another way
If you need anything on this site in a different format — for example large print, plain text, or read to you over the phone — contact us using the details below and tell us what would help. There is no charge for this.
You can also always contact us by phone or email instead of using a form on this site. No part of our service requires you to use the website.
6. Reporting an accessibility problem
If you find something on this site that you cannot use, please tell us. It is genuinely useful to us, and we would rather hear about it than not.
Please include the page address and a short description of what happened, and we will reply and let you know what we can do. Our contact details are below.
7. Date and review
This statement was prepared on 30 August 2026 following the review described above. We will review it again when we make significant changes to the site, when we address the limitations listed above, and otherwise at least once a year.
